Performance assessment directly relates student performance to real-world tasks by evaluating how well students can apply their knowledge and skills in practical situations. This type of assessment often involves tasks that simulate real-world challenges or projects, allowing students to demonstrate their understanding through authentic activities rather than just answering questions in a traditional format.

Performance assessments might include things like presentations, experiments, or portfolios, where students create products or demonstrate processes relevant to their learning. By focusing on these tasks, performance assessments provide a better indication of how students can transfer their learning to actual situations they might face outside of the classroom.
